Mum-of-one, 36, dies after roof of bus was 'sliced off' in horror bridge crash

A mum has died after a double decker bus crashed into a railway bridge. Jessica Jing Ren, 36, was air lifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the collision in Swansea, Wales, on December 12.

She died a short while after, Wales Online confirmed.

In a tribute, Jessica's family said: “It is with the saddest regret that the family of Jessica Jing Ren have announced the passing of Jessica at the age of 36 years, following the tragic traffic incident on 12 December in Swansea.

“Jessica was the loving wife of Wenquang Wang, a devoted mother to five year old Yushu Wang and the cherished daughter of Mingqi Ren.

"Jessica had been a visiting academic who had joined the Accounting and Finance department in the School of Management in Swansea University in July this year, from Huanghuai University in China.

“A much loved and talented academic, Jessica will be deeply missed by her family and her friends both in China and in Swansea and will leave a great void in their lives."

Seven passengers were injured in the bus crash earlier this month, when the roof of he vehicle was ripped off.

People on board described hearing "crunching of glass" and "people bleeding" as they were thrown forward.

The bus's top deck was crumpled - with a section of the roof being sliced off and thrown onto the rail line above the bridge at around 9.40am.
