Spike Lee film star, Thomas Jefferson shot to DEATH

Actor Thomas Jefferson Byrd has been killed. The star, 70, died after being shot to death on Saturday, the Atlanta Police Department confirmed to Variety.

The outlet reports that on Saturday, Atlanta police officers were dispatched to 2259 Belvedere Ave., responding to a call about an injured person at 1:45 am.

Upon arrival, officers found Thomas lying unresponsive and pronounced him dead from multiple gunshot wounds to the back.

Homicide detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, and the investigation is currently ongoing.

Spike Lee - who worked with the star on a number of occasions - paid tribute Thomas on his Instagram page on Sunday.

He penned: “I’m So Sad To Announce The Tragic Murder Of Our Beloved Brother Thomas Jefferson Byrd Last Night In Atlanta. Georgia
